Profile guide
How to build a proof-of-work student profile.
A proof-of-work profile is a practical answer to the question: “What have you actually built, tried, learned or contributed?” It helps students stand out when marks alone do not explain their ability.
What belongs in a proof-of-work profile?
Include projects, GitHub repositories, design files, writing samples, demo videos, hackathon submissions, research notes, volunteer outcomes, certificates and links to official achievements. Every item should explain the problem, your role, the tools used and the result.
Make proof easy to scan
Recruiters, mentors and collaborators do not have time to decode messy portfolios. Use short titles, one-line outcomes, clear links and a small number of strong examples. Three well-explained projects are better than ten unclear ones.
Proof checklist for students
- One public profile link that stays updated.
- GitHub or portfolio links for technical work.
- LinkedIn for professional context and networking.
- Resume versions matched to internships, hackathons or research.
- Notes on what changed after feedback or iteration.
